Our Projects
The Creator’s Cottage is a non-profit arts space located in South Madison. We offer a fully equipped fiber arts studio space, a dedicated classroom space, a writers café, as well as overnight retreat accommodations for literary, visual, fiber, and performing artists. We support the arts through an active calender of virtual and in-person events. Our mission is to transform the lives of women, children, and families of color through the creative arts. Our goals are to improve the lives of artists everywhere, build stronger more resilient families, and bring about equitable social transformation in the creative arts.

The Ironer’s Press is an independent publisher of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and genre-defying literature for all ages. We publish books that inform, inspire and ignite humanity to change and works that challenge the status quo. We are a unique hybrid publisher, offering developmental services to our writers through every stage of their careers— from concept to publication and beyond. We are committed to widening the gap, and to making room for powerful multi-ethnic voices of artistic and cultural merit, in a marketplace that has traditionally not seen their stories or voices as valid or commercially viable.
This storytelling project focuses on the often-untold stories of women ages 40 and up. Participants in the program will gater monthly to share memories surrounding family, community, faith, culture, and resistance. Participants will have the option to either produce their stories in written form or to create their stories by means of fabric through story cloths and quilts. You do not have to be a quilter or a writer to join! All participants will receive instruction, encouragement, positive feedback, and the necessary supplies to complete the project.
